A friend of mine told me about the fact that Hugo’s Tacos, a plant-friendly taco stand just off the 101 at Coldwater, is now selling vegan soft-serve ice cream. I went by and got a chocolate/vanilla swirl and it was delightful. Definitely not the healthiest thing in the world, but it’s nice to know that there’s a place I can get some soft serve ice cream without having to consume disgusting dairy.
UPDATE: Hugo’s Tacos posted in the comments below some very enlightening facts about their soft serve. It’s actually got some serious nutritional benefits! “A 6oz serving is approx. 185 calories: High in Vitamin A (close to 80%,) phosporus (around 65%,) magnesium (about 35%,) & B 12 (20%-ish) – a lot of nutrients for “junk” food. . .”
Aside from the soft serve, Hugo’s Tacos has, you guessed it…tacos and Mexican food. Just as Hugo’s Restaurant is a healthy spin on a casual American eatery, their taco joint is a healthy spin on Mexican food. Lots of plant-based options and you essentially build your own meal. If you’re looking for a quick bite in the Valley or if you want Mexican food that’s not smothered in lard, Hugo’s Tacos is definitely worth a visit.
