A whole foods plant-based diet is the best way to stay healthy, but once in a while you’ve gotta enjoy a delicious microbrew, right? Enter Golden Road Brewing Pub, owned by the same folks who opened Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank and Mohawk Bend in Silverlake. Mohawk Bend is one of my favorite places in LA, so I figured Golden Road would be up to par and headed there with some co-workers for lunch. Boy was I right. Nestled away in an industrial district off of the 134 freeway and San Fernando Road, Golden Road Brew Pub is right next to the actual brewery (we almost walked into the wrong place when we first got there). Spacious and open-aired, its my kind of a place. Here are some pictures of the joint:
Tons of craft beers on tap, but the real highlight of the place is the menu. Like Mohawk Bend, there are some meat dishes on the menu, but the majority of the food served there is vegan. We got the hearts of palm ceviche, the kale rolls, and a tostada salad with vegan “taco meat.” All were delicious, albeit a tiny bit on the oily side. This place definitely isn’t a mecca of health and sobriety, but as far as pubs go, its one of the nicest I’ve been to in Los Angeles. The vegan-friendly menu is obviously a huge plus. Are the folks behind these three great bars starting a trend? Will more bars start carrying vegan food? Hopefully so. Check out some pictures of our meal and head down there sometime soon if you live in LA. If you’re heading to a Dodger game from the valley, for instance, Golden Road is the perfect place to go.
