A while back I was sent a package of goodies by Sun Chlorella that included their chlorella granules and some eleuthero tea. At the time, I was somewhat quick to dismiss these products as kooky pseudo-health supplements, but boy was I ever wrong. I’ve done a good amount of research on this stuff and it turns out it’s a really useful nutritional supplement that you may find enormous benefits from. Sorry for ever doubting you, Sun Chlorella. Here’s my apology:
I started experimenting with chlorella after I saw Dr. Michael Greger’s video on it a few months ago and hearing that he used it in his daily diet. What is chlorella? It’s a blue green algae, similar to spirulina, which has insane amounts of chlorophyll, phytochemicals, and protein. It’s also been shown to help your body detoxify from heavy metals which we all accumulate over the course of our every day life. I’ve been putting it in my smoothies for a few months now, and although I haven’t noticed a serious difference, the detoxification benefits and nutritional profile were enough for me to keep it in my diet. If you’ve got brain fog and fatigue, it’s worth giving a shot.
Sun Chlorella has been shown to be the highest quality chlorella out there, so I’d definitely recommend it. If you’re not a big smoothie person, they make tablets that you can take as well. Dr. Greger said he even sprinkles the powder on top of his popcorn from time to time (haven’t tried that yet). If you include spirulina in your diet, you might want to consider switching over to using chlorella, as there have been some recent studies showing possible toxicity issues with spirulina.
I was also given a sample of eleuthero tea, now called “Infuse Your Mood” tea. Eleuthero is a relative of ginseng and kind of tastes like green tea. The nice thing about it is that it doesn’t contain any caffeine and yet is energizing when it needs to be. How is this the case? Eleuthero is an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps the body deal with stress. It helps calm you down when you are stressed, and helps energize you when you are fatigued.
I’ve gone through about 3 boxes of the stuff, and I can’t really explain it, but having a cup of the eleuthero tea really helps to calm and yet energize me at the same time. It’s really an incredible feeling. So if you’re looking for a little extra energy in the afternoon or want to wind down from a stressful day, grab some Infuse Your Mood tea. Sun also makes eleuthero in tablet form as well. Have any of you tried to incorporate either of these two “superfoods” into your diet? If so, let me know what you think of them.
